The Classique internationale de canots de la Mauricie is the regional event with the longest history. Staring from the town of La Tuque, a group of a hundred rowers go down the St.Maurice river to the Shawinigan area. Stop along the St.Maurice river to cheer for the athletes, and grasp the splendor of the St.Maurice river and the grandeur of its valley. Many festivities are organized for the classic in downtown Shawinigan.
